Sandi Patty Returns to Findlay

Warm your heart this winter season with one of the most inspirational vocalists of all time!  Sandi Patty will perform songs from her newest album “Christmas Blessings” live at 7 p.m. Sunday, December 7 in the R. L. Heminger Auditorium at Findlay High School as part of the Marathon Petroleum Corporation’s Performing Arts Series.  Tickets are on sale now!

Sandi Patty, known to many as “The Voice,” has been an award-winning vocalist for over three decades.  Mostly presenting songs in the genre of gospel, she demonstrates her musical talents that range from blues to pop to opera and includes mixed versions such as jazzy gospel.  Her successful career has rewarded her over the years with her impressive and rather lengthy list of awards and records. Patty is the most awarded female vocalist in contemporary Christian music history, with 40 Dove Awards, five Grammy Awards, four Billboard Music Awards, three Platinum Awards, five Gold records and more than 11 million units sold in her career lifetime.  She was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 2004 and became an Indiana Living Legend in 2007 and has released over 30 albums.

Patty was raised by two musically inclined parents; her dad was a music pastor and her mom played the piano.  Sandi realized the importance of music at an early age and carried this appreciation through to her college years as she studied voice.  Patty continued to focus on her musical talents and in 1986, she delivered her rendition of The Star Spangled Banner, broadcast on ABC’s “Liberty Weekend” at the rededication of the Statue of Liberty.  Right then and there, Sandi was recognized by America as a star and became famous overnight.

For over ten years, Sandi Patty has performed with noted symphonies such as the Cincinnati Pops, Baltimore Symphony, Houston Symphony and more.  Sandi recorded her first Pops album with the London Symphony Orchestra entitled “An American Songbook.”  Not only is Sandi a talented vocalist, busy mother and wife, but also a skilled author, publishing several best-selling books during her career.  In 2006, Sandi was awarded the Silver Angel Award for her book Broken on the Back Row.

Throughout her career Sandi has had many major theatrical offers and her dream is to someday perform on Broadway.  However, at this time she recognizes and reinforces the idea that family will always come before career and is dedicated to raising her children.  Her dream of being a Broadway performer has partially come true with the help from the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra in a concert called “Sandi Patty’s Broadway.”  This performance featured memorable songs such as “West Side Story,” “My Fair Lady”, and the “Phantom of the Opera.”

Her musical career is an inspiration to many as she pours her heart and soul into her music.  From timeless classics to original treasures, Sandi is dedicated to share her life journey.  As Sandi has said, “Singing is my way to tell my story of hope, life, and love.”
